March 2020: Tech and Scalable Startup Hot List
These are the tech and scalable startups in the Riverside and Inland Empire region with the most traction I am tracking in March (in alphabetical order):
Black Bear in the Sierras
After many years of seeing black bear tracks, scat and tree bark scrapes, I finally saw a black bear in the wild in the Sierra National Forest. He/she was too fast for me to get a photograph, but I did photograph his/her tracks. If any NPS or Forest Service wildlife biologists want more details (location etc), please DM me. I won’t post location details on Instagram to protect the bear from any poachers. If anyone can estimate the size/sex of a bear from tracks in the ice crusted snow, my hiking boot in the photo is 13 inches long and the bear was moving at a full run.
Coyotes hunting Yosemite Valley
I was lucky enough to see two coyotes hunting the snow covered fields in Yosemite Valley in the early morning and late afternoon near El Capitan on two different days.
Baby Seals playing in La Jolla

Lost and Found
Thanks to whoever put this sign in the desert on the jeep trails. I was off of my paper map and had no GPS/ phone reception. A very cool trail that runs from Pioneer Town in the desert west of Joshua Tree all the way up to Big Bear and the Sand to Snow National Monument.
On Alert
On alert. A Least Chipmunk in the San Gorgonio Wilderness Area AKA Sand to Snow National Monument.
